These beetles are similar in appearance to those of anxius, the pronotum lacks prehumeral carinae. The male aedeagus is also diagnostic.
Reared from willow in the east (Bright 1987).
This species ranges from central Alberta east to New Brunswick and south to Michigan (Bright 1987).
